Amazing retreat, simple people and great spirituality.

    Bernardo has been teaching Yoga for over 9 years. He owns his private studio in Brazil. He focuses on Hatha Yoga, with complementary studies on Kundalini, Nidra and Vinyasa Yoga. For the past 3 years he has traveled extensively in Europe and Asia, to learn and teach in different countries, including Greece, India, Sri Lanka, Australia and New Zealand. At the moment he works with Plantation Villa on it's centre in Sri Lanka and guiding their international retreats and workshops. He is also a Vedic Chanting teacher (KYM - India) and a Ayurvedic and Thai masseur.

    Ishara is the founder and owner of Plantation Villa. She is a regular meditation practitioner whose practice has changed her life. She has practiced and studied Buddhism and meditation over the last eight years. With an inspiring life story, Ishara helps explore the world of meditation through an explanation of the mind, its nature and habits, to overcome obstacles and allow the inherent sense of fulfilment that we all have to shine forth.

    Dr Erandi Gunathilake

    Core Subject: Ayurveda - General Physician, Ayurvedic Nutrition, Gynaecology & Counselling

    Dr. Erandi Gunathilaka holds a Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine & Surgery (BAMS) at University of Colombo, Institute of Indigenous Medicine. She also obtained special training in Gynaecology and Psychology. Erandi works closely on treating gynaecological conditions, infertility, and cancer with Ayurveda. She specialises in Gynaecology, Sub-fertility (both male and female) and Menopause. She is also qualified in Psychological counselling focusing on Ayurvedic Diet & Nutrition, Fertility Concerns, Stress and Anxiety.

Location

A rural village off the beaten path away from the standard tourist trail and into the real Sri Lankan life. A village in nature and a retreat centre surrounded by nature including spring water wells, wildlife, abundance of trees and friendly villagers.

You will find this holiday experience very different from a normal activity packed holiday or even a normal spa holiday. Plantation Villa offers a very unique opportunity for you to be amidst nature and totally relax, while they look after you using the knowledge of century-old vedic traditions and mindfulness practices.

Daily Schedule:

  • 06:30 - 07:30 Yoga
  • 07:30 - 09:00 Breakfast
  • 09:00 - 12:30 Ayurvedic treatments. Some guests would also be doing walks in the village in the morning or having a swim before the treatment
  • 12:30 - 14:30 Lunch
  • 14:30 - 16:00 Rest or join one of the afternoon activities, which include walks in the plantation, activities in the plantation, tree planting, cookery classes, talks with the yoga teacher or doctor, and more
  • 17:30 - 19:00 Evening yoga
  • 19:00 - 20:30 Dinner
  • 20:30 Talks / Workshops, learning with village buddhist monks, group meditation, and more.

The villa consists of eight rooms, two of them are suite rooms and six are deluxe rooms. It also offers a dining hall, a lounge, verandas, and a spa.

Deluxe rooms : All of the deluxe rooms are in the villa and they also all open in to a beautiful open verandah. The rooms and bathrooms are completed beautifully to include modern guest requirements. Unlike the standard rooms, deluxe rooms are air conditioned.

Standard Rooms : All of the standard rooms are in the lodge and they all open in to a beautiful open verandah. The rooms and bathrooms are completed beautifully to include modern guest requirements. The rooms have fans but they are not air conditioned.

Suite Rooms : They have two suite rooms, which are in the villa and they open in to a beautiful front verandah within the main villa. The rooms and bathrooms are completed beautifully to include modern guest requirements. The suite room bathrooms have both a shower and a bath. Both suite rooms are air conditioned.

Free from the artificial preservatives, colourings, and pesticides, all meals on site are homemade from healthy, fresh ingredients. Anything that is not picked straight from their own organic gardens is sourced locally and ethically, so that quality of the food is not compromised.

Their doctor review the cooking and meal service to ensure proper preparation of food accordance with Ayurvedic principles. The meals are mainly vegetarian (mostly vegan), as well as gluten and sugar free. 

The centre specialises Ayurveda which is an ancient art of healing the body and mind through nutrition, relaxation and herbal treatments. The Ayurvedic doctors and senior therapists have over 15yrs of experience.

Wellbeing to guest is brough about using a six dimensional approach: Understanding and managing emotions, managing the mind, the body through nutrition, yoga and ayurveda, natural healing through the abundance of nature, bringing a sense of perspective through understanding the community living system and spiritual awakening.

Plantation Villa is a specialist Wellness Nature Resort situated in a rural village in Sri Lanka, specialising in Ayurveda and Yoga. It is a community centre established and run by the village community. The retreat centre funds and maintains the local temples, village schools and fund majority of the community activities in the village. Over 90% of the staff team are local villagers from underprivileged backgrounds who we have trained and offered employment along with mentoring to improve their lives and the lives of their children.
